College Leadership
I strive to support the college and our department on campus and in the community. I donate to the HGTC Foundation to support their efforts.
NAEYC Accreditation

During the past two years, I have worked closely with the other
ECD faculty to prepare for NAEYC re-accreditation. I have read extensively
about NAEYC accreditation, standards and supportive skills. Full-time
faculty met each Friday to evaluate our program against the standards and
prepare the self-study document. I have revised course syllabi, learning
opportunities, and assessment of student work to more closely meet the NAEYC standards. While attending the NAEYC Annual Conference in Atlanta, I attended sessions about NAEYC accreditation.

Directors' Network
The Directors' Network is a subcommittee of our Advisory Committee. The group meets the first Friday of each month in our building. I act as the liaison between the Network, our department, and the Advisory Committee. I created notebooks for the members of the Network to use for their agendas, handouts, and contact information.
Community Outreach
I created a brochure promoting the Early Care and Education Department that I distributed to high school students in Georgetown County Schools interested in attending college. I met with students at Waccamaw High School and Georgetown High School to discuss our program and encourage application to the college. Students from our department accompanied me so the high school students could hear the perspective of current HGTC students.

Georgetown High School
A current student in our program and recent graduate of Georgetown High School accompanied me to the school. Brittany encouraged students to look at Horry Georgetown Technical College as their choice for higher education and shared her experiences in our department.

Waccamaw High School
Graduates of our program spent a class period at Waccamaw High School in Pawleys Island talking to students interested in the field of early childhood education. Attention was given to the closeness of the students and faculty in our department and the advantages of an Horry Georgetown Technical College Associate's Degree. Both students plan to continue their education and complete a four year program.
