Student Focus
I consider our students a part of the ECD family. By developing a strong rapport with my students, I build relationships based on respect and trust. Students feel comfortable approaching me with their needs and ideas. The door to my office is always open and students are encouraged to contact me by phone, text or email with any concerns or questions. I eagerly participate in student activities like the Welcome Back Celebration and various ECD student group activities.
South Carolina Early Childhood Association Annual Conference
Each year I have accompanied our ECD student group to the South Carolina Early Childhood Association Annual Conference. The conference has been held in Myrtle Beach and North Charleston. I assisted students in selecting sessions, attended sessions with students, and conducted debriefings and reflections at the end of each conference day. Students and I visited the exhibits together to examine new materials and resources, shared meals, and attended conference functions.
Welcome Back Celebration
Collaborating with students in the ECD student group, I participated in the Welcome Back Celebration. I encourage students to attend this event and other Student Engagement Activities.
Mentoring Students After Graduation
Graduation does not mark the end of my work with students. I write letters of recommendation, serve as a reference to potential employers, and offer advice to students continuing their education and beginning their work in the field.
